Why bigger sizes help

The recovery tools are tiny compared with the drive size.
Example: a 1 TB drive can hold the recovery tools plus multiple PC images, depending on the amount of data in each backup.
Specifications
The 10 Gbps USB-C connection sets the ceiling for large sequential transfers at around 1 GB/s, but a fast NVMe SSD still matters. Its low latency and strong random performance make small-file transfers and everyday workloads much faster.

Product description
The Mochi NVMe Drive is a compact external storage device built around a high-speed NVMe SSD and an aluminium USB-C enclosure. It gives you portable storage that you can connect to your computer without installing an internal drive.
Its USB 3.1 Gen 2 controller supports up to 10 Gbps, with real-world transfer speeds depending on the SSD, USB port and files being transferred. The aluminium enclosure also helps dissipate heat from the drive.
Choose a complete drive with an NVMe SSD already included, in capacities from 128 GB to 2 TB, or choose enclosure only and install your own PCIe NVMe SSD (up to 2 TB). The enclosure does not support M.2 SATA / NGFF SATA SSDs.
The kit includes a USB-C to USB-A USB 3.1 cable, built-in 10 Gbps controller and thermal pad. A Samsung NVMe SSD is available in applicable complete-drive configurations.
If you choose a complete drive, you can optionally add Mochi Recovery: a bootable recovery partition using approximately 8 GB, with the remaining capacity available for normal storage.
